Singapore Trip (again)

This was our second trip to singapore in the last 2 months. These are a few sketches from the trip.

Ethan playing his DS waiting for our flight back home from Singapore. It was delayed for 1 1/2 hours and we still didn't leave until about half hour or so after that. We landed back in Indonesia around 1:30 am.

This is one of many "Rescue Lines" scattered around the beach, East Coast Park, in Singapore. Not too sure how effective they are when they are tangled up like this.

This is Ethan and Kenna playing the sand at East Coast Park in Singapore. It was nice, except the plethora of cargo ships and oil tankers waiting to dock. There must have been at least one hundred.

A passenger sleeping next to me going to Singapore.

Drinks before and after the flight to Singapore.

This is the outside of the Surabaya airport. We had an immigration issue and had to wait a really long time. We ended up missing our flight and had to stay the night in Surabaya again. It was corrected and off to Singapore we went.

Indonesian Girl

A young Indonesian girl.

I tried going stronger with my contrast. I still think it is lacking in that area. The thing is, I get scared when I go too dark. There is no going back once it's on the paper. Yeah, I'm a wimp.

Dad 1985

I was not happy with the previous drawing I did of dad. So I tried my hand at it again (no pun intended). I am more happy with this version. I feel it looks more like dad…. in 1985.

This is my 5th attempt at a portrait and I still need to work hard on my contrast. I feel if I can master that, my work will be more "life like".

So back to the drawing board (pun is definitely intended ).

My Dad

This is an attempt at a portrait of my dad. It is a combination of two pictures. He is significantly older now than what is portrayed below. This is how I really remember my father. He has Alzheimer's and is not expected to live through the month (Dec. 2010).

Still a long way to go with my portraits. But I will keep practicing :o)
